The Professor has been out of town and the craziness was up to 11 this week. Tuesday, we took advantage of $1 pizza roll night in between installments of stuff.

Delicious!

Wednesday morning, Mini-amateur ate the leftover roll in the car on the way to soccer practice. And left the remnants of a container of Ranch in the cupholder. Which Cash Register found. And licked clean while I was getting Isaac unloaded at his school.

Turns out, Ranch is not a great snack for Doodles.

During the night, I heard whimpering over the monitor, but was not coherent enough to think I should check it out until it had been going on for a while. I stumbled through the dark, save the occasional flash of lightning which eerily illuminated my path, and when I opened Isaac’s bedroom door I instantly wished I had been awake enough to respond sooner.

Explosive Doodle diarrhea.

Everywhere.

Eeew.

CR ran to the back door, which I opened to reveal torrential rain. She sped out onto the porch, then 180’d back into the house and ran to the front door.

“Dood, it’s going to be the same out here!”

I opened the front door and instant replay.

Grabbing a roll of paper towels and my bottle of Theives, I held my breath and headed back for damage control. I think I did a bang up job with the cleaning, considering it was 4AM and I was trying not to turn the lights on and wake up Isaac. Which failed anyway.

“That poopoo? My dog make poopoo?”

But the smell!! It could not be contained by conventional measures.

Enter Angry Orange! I diluted some of this liquid gold into a spray bottle and went to town in the room. Almost immediately the stink was replaced by a {strong} but comparatively speaking pleasant citrus scent. Leaving the door open for air circulation purposes I told Isaac to go back to sleep and considered this a win.

Then I made two batches of cookies, loaded the dishwasher and did two loads of laundry before waking everyone up and getting them deposited in their appropriate places for the day.

Even now, a day later, there’s still no residual nasty smell. Isaac’s rug may not ever be the same. If it stops raining I think I’ll drag it out to the driveway and pressure wash it a few times. I’m thankful for our new wood floors. Waaaaaay better than carpet for our hardcore lifestyle!
