We have had some pretty good storms over the last day or so. Tons of rain, lightning, thunder, the whole deal! This morning after dropping the kids off at school I caught a sparkle out of the corner of my eye as I walked up my front sidewalk. Turning, I spotted these beautiful roses, covered in droplets of yesterday’s rain shimmering boldly in the morning sun. Beautiful!

The storms yesterday were unforgiving! Tiny Dude had a track meet and I wasn’t sure it was going to happen. But it did. I drove off in the pouring rain to get there in time to see his first race, which had been added at the last minute. As I exited the highway to change roads, all of the power was out at the intersection. No traffic lights, no functioning gas station (which was unfortunate because I had only “E” amount of gas!) I made the hour drive to the school hosting the meet and arrived to find an empty parking lot and abandoned stadium! I had checked and re-checked the location because there are two high schools in this town and I didn’t want to end up at the wrong one! Texted the Tiny Dude and of course he had no idea where he was — he just recently perfected the days of the week. Texted another Mom –apparently even though the schedule said one thing it actually meant another third option that I hadn’t even considered. Go figure. Hauled off 20 minutes in the other direction, arrived, finally found parking and as I walked up to the stadium, applauding myself on the perfect timing — I could see the race before Tiny Dude’s finishing up — they announced a lighting delay. The stands were evacuated and before I could finish my PBJ back in the car it had been canceled! Bummer!

Stinky old rain and storms canceled our track, soccer practice and disturbed my entire evening.

But, the smell of wet dirt and grass this morning, the crisp spring air and these glistening roses — maybe it wasn’t so bad after all!

Isaac and I are planning a chill day at home. His nurse is out of town so no school for him today. He’s watching Bambi, drumming away, and we’re about to have some Cottage Cheese Banana Pancakes for breakfast! I’m looking forward to a good day. And basketball tonight! Go Ags!
